She shoots, she scores! Sports legend calls girls' hockey game

When the NHL announced its months-long labor dispute was finally over, hockey fans let out a collective sigh. For many of them, it wasn’t just the action on the ice they missed; it was also the inimitable voice and energy of legendary sports broadcaster, Doc Emrick.

Rock Center thought Doc might enjoy the chance to keep his skills sharp during the long hiatus and invited him to call a game in Troy, Mich., not far from his hometown. The highly competitive match-up pitted the St. Clair Shores Saintes against the Troy Lady Sting—two teams of twelve-and-under girls whose intensity in play was matched only by Doc’s enthusiasm at the microphone.
