The scandal surrounding Gen. David Petraeus and Gen. John R. Allen has brought new attention to the four-star lifestyle of America's top military leaders. Those who have worn four stars on their shoulders say it's a life of both privilege and peril.
"Being a four-star general is as close as people come to being rock stars who also have the ability to wage war," said Tom Ricks, author of The Generals, an unsparing look at America's top military commanders.
NBC News Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Andrea Mitchell looks into the culture of those at the top.

Talk about a big disconnect from the lead-in and the report. I wonder if Brian is disappointed there wasn't more exposing the "cult of our Top Generals". Or was the expose that *shock* people treat them with adulation? Why they even treat them like "rock stars" who I guess are much more worthy of our support than our military leaders?
What the heck was that? The story on Petraeus from the 15th was a complete JOKE...Where was the coverage?
Did I miss the fact that his affair was given an excuse on your program that he was out of sorts from his military career to his civilian? He was having trouble picking out suits for his Director CIA position, and it was so confusing he had an affair? WTH...
What a rediculous story/coverage of a truly facination current event.
SHAME FOR RUNNING THIS CRAP!
Time for the generals, all the generals, to stand down. We can no longer afford the constant wars. We tire of the stories of indiscretion, assult, even murder of civilians that happens in and around the war zones, and thereby in and around the generals - I do not single out any one general - Time for all the generals to Stand Down - time for this country to move towards the standard bearer of peace.
Pray for Peace
