For all of you who don't understand what a blind trust is, my family have one. It's similar to an Irrevocable Trust, handled by CPA's or Law Firms, or both. Part of your income goes into the trust, like an IRA, it is invested and grows. Like a Will, beneficiaries, usually, children, grandchildren and charitable organizations, educational colleges are paid upon the death of the spouse, in our case, my father. Once the trust is set up, no one in the family controls it and no one in the family is allowed to view the contents, that is a closed blind trust. It is reported to federal and state tax agencies and managed. Families do this to ensure everyone has a way to support themselves in the future. Beneficiaries can receive lump sum payment, annual installments or have funds reinvested on their behalf, it all depends how the beneficiary payout was originally set up.

I am very proud that Mitt Romney loved his family enough to sacrifice part of his income each month to prepare for their future. My family was not rich, but, my father was smart about finances, and prepared for our futures early and throughout his life. Life has been hard, and those funds have saved more than one mortgage in my family.

Before I begin, I am not voting for either Romney or Obama so I am talking strictly from an independent viewpoint.

It would give them more ammunition to attack us on; and 2. We're not releasing any more, because we are not hiding anything, all I can surmise is the The Romneys ARE hiding some unwanted financial deals, and, it may show they are nothing regular rich Republican Politicos, or, it may show they have been doing things that are legal, but unethical. My guess is the latter!

Are we to believe Ann is the finance guru in the family? I'll bet she has even less understanding of the things her husband has done during their lifetime to profit from others misery or to evade paying taxes. That being said, IF Romney had done anything illegal - the IRS would have been on him. If I were Romney, however, I would say "I'll be happy to release 10 years of tax returns IF Obama will release his college transcripts" - and see what happens.

Romney is the first guy running for President in a while who has no visible vices - not only did he not inhale (like Clinton), he didn't smoke. GW Bush had issues with alcohol and probably cocaine, Obama admitted in his own autobiography that he "did a little blow" and smoked pot, etc. Romney is squeaky clean - he hasn't done any illegal substances, hasn't cheated on his wife, etc. About the only thing he's done that some people find distasteful - he's made a lot of money. So yeah, if they release those tax returns, I can see the Dems using them as ammunition even if Romney has done nothing illegal.

Actually, if you were Romney, you would know better than to trade ten years of your tax returns for Obama's college transcripts. Romney knows what his tax returns would reveal about himself, and knows that they would ruin his chances to get to the Presidency. What rules? There are no rules to submit returns. I think this whole idea of "Romney release your returns" is no better or different than "Obama release your transcripts". Neither are rules or LAW. It just distracts from the issues and both sides are at fault for this off topic behavior. The majority of America is looking out for themselves, not just Romney or Obama. And if the LAW allows it, so be it until the LAW is rewritten. Then saying Republicans are obstructing Obama is as ridiculous as saying Harry Reid isn't obstructing progress from the Senate. Is it illegal to have a good tax guy? Is it illegal to tax advantage of 'loopholes' to pay less taxes? If he has money in illegal tax havens (or whatever the left is crying about) it wouldn't be on his return, so that couldn't be proved or disproved anyway. You really think low income people pay taxes? With child tax credits and EIC and goodness knows what else, the majority of low income people pay little to zero taxes. Is that ok? They use government assistance, shouldn't they have to pay their proportionate share? Why should the wealthy have to foot the bill for those who are not?

3] Social Security Insurance- Most contributions to the system come from "payroll taxes" part of which get deposited directly into the SS fund, and then disbursements are made to qualified individuals. Yes, "we the people" contribute AND collect from an insurance program created in 1948. It is currently solvent until 2035 with 2.6 Trillion in it's account.

4] Medicare Insurance- Contributions come from "payroll taxes" as above, and all qualified Americans over age 65 (or 67) can collect.

5] Federal Government employees: ALL federal government employees have access to their healthcare program. This includes ALL of the Senate, Congress, and Executive branches, not just the officeholders, but their staffs as well.

I'm not going to do the deep research, but my best guess is that of the 320 million Americans alive today, about 65% of them are currently participating in one of the above "socialist programs". How very UNAMERICAN of them!

Romney should show his Tax returns in the same manner as Obama showed his birth certificate. I thought anybody who was running for the highest office in the land would have to prove he was an American citizen. The media criticized anybody who ask for him to show the true certificate.
