If our military has to go into a foreign land to boost the military industrial complex, why not Syria? At least they are fighting an obvious enemy dictator and it would do wonders for USA public relations in the Muslin world.

If the rebels are about to win, who will prevent the massacre or genocide of the Alawites and the 2.25 million Christians by the Sunni victors? Who will keep the al-Qaeda and Salafi groups of rebels from an Islamist takeover?

As always, the news is one sided. I can share with you thousands of stories, pictures, and videos of horrible crimes being committed from the rebbels against unarmed civillians who support the government. There are thousand of government supporters who also shed tears due to the destruction of the their homes and the loss of their loved ones. The rebbles have burned churches, homes, bussinesses, schools, and have killed many innocent people as well. Every night I go to bed praying that when I wake to call my mom and dad that they will still be alive to answer the phone, or that my brother will be able to go and come from work without being killed, or that my sister can walk the five blocks to get to her school. They are all unarmed, but since they support the government they have become moving targets for these so called peaceful rebbels who say that they only seek democracy. Wake up America, we only get news and stories that support the American agenda.

We ask you to help us spread the word to stop these paid and related hostile scheme campaigns broadcasting suspicious ,false media surrounding our country , to undermine the steadfastness and unity and sow the seeds of sedition between the sons of one homeland.

Assad must go. Thank you Richard Engel for risking your life to report to us some good news in Eastern Syria. I do understand reasons why we are not entering into the fray in Syria, but we should do what we can to protect those Syrians who have fled to neighboring countries, and to assist Turkey with its efforts to support the Syrian rebels. There is more sad news from elsewhere in Syria today, so it is not over yet, but if the rebels can continue forward, perhaps they will prevail.

I've respected your journalism for many years, but you do a disservice here with your "human interest" video report by leaving the viewer with the impressions that the Syrian opposition is just groups of Syrian family members who have been wronged by the government. In fact, most of the many thousands of terrorists (yes, that's the correct word) come from across the borders e.g. Libyan mercenaries, Iraq al-Queda, etc. to wreak destruction and death, armed and supported by the U.S. and its "allies" and aided by the CIA, MI6, and Mossad in training, planning and covert operations.

I feel I'm "preaching to the choir" as you are experienced enough to know this. Also, the perception given that because Assad's forces have pulled back it's a sign that the "rebels" are winning is false. It's more likely because Assad was trying to implement the Kofi Annan "peace plan" by withdrawing; yet the terrorists don't, as also mandated, using that instead as an opportunity to re-arm, rebuild and attack both military and civilians loyal to their government.

The numerous bombings of government and military facilities, with large loss of civilian life and the fact that all massacres seem to involve pro-government supporters does not, in the logical mind, support the often proffered conclusion that it's the evil government that is doing them. It's instead the western supported foreign terrorists, including al-Queda.

It would be highly worthwhile for all if you were to do a similar "balancing" video report, embedding with the government military forces, which to date have incurred many thousands of deaths and injuries. Show that side to regain your long-term past credibility.
