Rock Center Preview
Teachers at the Maya Angelou Academy in Laurel, Maryland refer to their students as scholars, reward personal and scholastic successes, and do it all within the confines of a juvenile correctional facility.
The school is the brainchild of James Forman, Jr., and David Domenici. The two men transformed education in the correctional facility from a culture of punishment and violence into a culture of therapy and high expectations.
