Correspondent Harry Smith's reporting about the epidemic of illegal rhino poaching in South Africa appears to have inspired a California businessman to donate his entire month's salary to groups intent on saving the rhino from extinction.
The Milpitas Post reports that Minh Nguyen, who runs several fitness businesses, will donate 100 percent of his income this month, in addition to fundraising for campaigns supporting the cause.
"If we can shoot for $10,000 to $15,000 this month, I think I would hit my goal," Nguyen told the newspaper.
Nguyen attributed his interest in helping the rhinos to Rock Center's first report on the topic in February.
