In her first television interview, former White House intern, Mimi Alford tells Rock Center special correspondent Meredith Vieira specific details about her alleged affair with President John F. Kennedy in 1962. In her book, Once Upon a Secret: My Affair with President John F. Kennedy and Its Aftermath, Alford calls their encounters "sexual and fun." She also calls the President a "sensualist," who also enjoyed being completely silly, especially in the bathtub.
"He had a collection of little yellow rubber ducks and they were in the bathtub and rubber ducks sort of became part of the game," Alford told Vieira.

I think it's apparent she wasn't old enough to "know better." Why is this her fault? Did she seek him out?He was a grown man, and the President of the United States. What a tremendous amount of pressure to comply and please. The fact that he was fun and playful and handsome doesn't make it any better. This tells us more about the place of women at this time, and with which we still wrestle today.
I cannot believe this is being given any time. It is no one's business. It disgusts me so bad I turned off the Today show today and I certainly won't be watching Brian Williams tonight. its nice how sweet this story is, completely ignoring the rape, the way he passed her around to an aid and asked her to blow his little brother. camelot had a dark king, it makes you wonder if the typical kennedy miniseries will run this year during the election. you know the one that shows how fun and cool they were and how we barely deserve to have selfless people like this as our leaders and we should just be thankful that they converted their family fortune built on organized crime towards helping all of us.

This story says more about the role and attitudes toward women then, and these comments say we still have a problem recognizing inappropriate behavior by men. I was a Kennedy fan, but some of our heroes need to be reevaluated.
By no means does he have no fault in this. Actually, the majority of the fault is his due to the age dynamic. But you cannot say she wasn't old enough to know better! She knew it was wrong and did it anyway. A 19 year old knows better, then and now!
What disturbs me about this programming is the over saturation. It was discussed about every hour of the Today show. It was on Nightly News, including Meredith to introduce the segment.
After all of that, why in the world do I need to watch Rock Center to watch it all over again? Someone in production has lost the concept of a teaser segment. You have lost a viewer of tonight's RC. It's too much in too short a time.
I will be somewhere other than NBC. You need to rethink how much your viewing audience wants to hear about something that is less than breaking news.
I am so disappointed with Brian Williams granting to much time to that pathetic has been "Journalist" Vieria to allow her to promote her interview. What happened? Alford afraid that someone is making some money off her and she needs to "put the record straight"? Vieira runs there to conduct an interview where the only person who can be hurt is Carolyn. Alford can say whatever she wants and there is no one to refute it. In my opinion NBC has lost credibility allowing this show to proceed.

Ok is it just me, but is it not time to see that JFK even-though he did great things was a bit of a predator. I mean he seem to pick this girl for her naivete. he seem to seek the girls out etc. As time passes and we know more about his private life, he seems a bit of a sociopath. It should be noted that many great men were boarding sociopath and maybe even a psychopath. He seemed too cool and calculated and compartmentalized a person not to be a sociopath. It needs to be said really, it tiring to hear people put away that side of him when they write about him. Its a sad story for this woman as a young person to be used that way by a man of power! coranation: I saw that interview last night she was NO VICTIM !Mimmi knew what she was doing & LIKED IT! She gave up her virginity in the 1st lady's bed, she did a second internship and continued the afair. Shame on you NBC! It is disappointing to see NBC News and Brian Williams sink to this level. This woman can say anything that she wants to say to promote her book. There is no one left to dispute her. You should be ashamed to subject a family who have suffered so much and made such tremendous sacrifices for their country to unprovable accusations. Could Meredith have found any more ways to ask this lovely woman if she felt like a whore? It was bordering on cruelty rather than investigation. Who is she to sit in judgement of anyone? Clearly Ms. Alford is trying to make peace with her past - why should she not be allowed to do so?
