Mimi Alford, the woman who says she had an affair with President John F. Kennedy while she was a White House intern in 1962, says her first close encounter with the president came during a lunchtime swim.
"It really didn't seem unnatural just because everybody was friendly and I went back to work afterward, " Alford told Rock Center special correspondent Meredith Vieira in an interview to air on NBC Wednesday night. "No one said anything."
Alford describes Kennedy seducing her while taking her on a tour of the private floors of the White House.
Then a 19-year-old debutante from a prominent New Jersey family, Alford says she felt overpowered by the 45-year-old Kennedy's powerful aura.
"I think overpowered in the sense that he was the president. He was this unbelievably handsome man, 45 years old, not overpowered physically that someone had grabbed me and made me do something that I wasn't really willing to do, because I really think I was willing to do it," Alford said.

I really enjoy the show until it gets a tabloid story injected. This is nothing more that a infomercial for a book. Does NBC have stock in the publishing company?
The man has been dead nearly fifty years. How in the world can anyone believe yet another unsubstantiated, salacious claim?
Not that it's false, because it might not be - but then again, who says it's true? My apologies to the lady involved if it is true, but she should have brought this up in 1962, not 2012.

He didn't "seduce her". He just used her to relieve himself. He was brought up with the idea that maids and other servants were there to serve, and once he got some power figured that was the purpose of groupies too.

Sure JFK wasn't perfect, and who knows what is true or false about this story. What I do know is that I admire JFK not because of his personal life, but because of his actions while he was President. When he spoke about helping the people he actually followed through and fought against big businesses and banks, while today banks and corporations run the show in Washington. Instead of reading this meaningless gossip, read about how JFK refused to let the steel industry raise their prices when it would only benefit the elite in this country. He also printed government money backed by silver instead of letting us be taxed by the Federal Reserve Banks to print our money. Also, he refused to engage in nuclear war when he was pressed by all of his military advisors which would have killed millions of Americans. I guess that makes me odd today to like a politician based on actions in favor of the people rather than percieved image and speaking ability.
I so agree with you. Just wanted to comment on all these big networks giving Mimi airtime. She is out to sell her book and they all bought into this story. She has no regard for Carolyn and her kids, how selfish on her part. It's all about the mighty dollar, not her need to get this off her chest, the big secret she has held for 50 years is out and now she is healed, whatever!!!

Mimi is presenting herself as a victim and I, for one, do not believe her. It is not unusual for a young woman to become infatuated with famous men (I would have jumped in bed with Paul McCartney in a heart beat) and I do not think she was lured into bed by JFK. Can she prove her claims?? She is after money and the interviews are aimed at promoting her disgusting book. Shame on the Today show for helping her do it. The Kennedy family has been faced with multiple tragedies and this is one more of them.

Why is this a story!? Any woman who lived and worked in DC in the 60's and 70's knows that this was not uncommon. Political groupies were the order of the day as was jumping in the sack with political "rock stars. It happened at the White House, it happened on Capitol Hill, it happened in the Tidal Basin, ask Fannie Fox. Why this woman has to reveal these intimate details of her life is not a mystery.... its about money and recognition. I can't tell you how disappointed I am in Meredith Viera, Brian Williams and anyone else who thinks this story has any news or historical merit. This is just salacious entertainment news, not News. This woman deserves no one's attention.
