U have a winner! Luv Brian and company. Good job guys.
Brian,
Love the new show but do we need another talk show? I watch your news every night. I wouldn't watch anyone else. When are you going to spend time with your family? How many hours are you working a week?
I truly enjoyed the show; educational, exciting, interesting, sad and funny!!! Richard Engel is such a fine journalist....I watched him with my heart in my throat.
I enjoyed the show last night but admit a hint of disappointment when it came to the airline boarding article; overlooking ADA/People with Disabilities issues. Seems everyone ignores this group of travelers, going about obliviously as to the hell so many of us endure when traveling; power-chairs taken apart by baggage handlers and not reassembled on the other end or worse, missing parts or the entire chair due to routing issues. Being hit with added charges even though many of us are amongst the most economically poor in the country. . . the list is staggering and I'm positive that you can get more than an earful just talking to a dozen or so regular travelers.
My father is presently in a Nursing home and basically on his last legs presently. If I take a bus there is no assurance that I can make transfers let alone if the connecting bus can load my chair. Train is impractical in that the closest stop is a two hour drive from my mother's and too, it would take be further into the south then back up just to reach the Cinci. Oh terminal. . . rather nuts! Then we have the airlines, not a pleasant experience for anyone now days let alone someone in a powerchair. . . even security wants to take the things apart these days even though NONE OF THEM are certified to do so and of course, reassemble the unit PROPERLY.
If would be nice if someone would shine a light or two on this issue. . . then again, I have a short list of other things you might want to weigh in on as well. . .
Awkward.
Talented individuals. But the show's formula is flawed. East coast suite and tie in a casual (albeit ultra modern) living room set? They would have been better off with a table not unlike 'The View' or 'The Daily Show'. Brian constantly leaning over looks stressed (he ends up swaying to get a better position, it looks like a neurological disorder), and uncomfortable. When taking on debate, this format just looks painful. Awkward at best.
Dead on Steveo. I am a fan of both Mr. Stewart and Mr. Williams, but that was just Awkward. Why was Brain's back to us the whole time? And why in god's name was he hunched over like he was trying to ingratiate himself with his girlfriend's dad? You could see Jon's unease by how far back he was leaning into that couch. (which looks like it was lifted from Disney's Tomorrow land) I'll be interested to see how this show evolves.
I truly enjoyed the show. It was educational, interesting, exciting, sad and funny!! Richard Engel is a gifted investigator and journalist...I watched him with my heart in my throat !!!!
Nice set, but NBC probably spent too much on it since it was used primarily for breaks between commercials. I would much prefer people sitting on orange crates in front of cement walls if it meant more in-depth reporting on real issues with fewer commercials. For me, it's back to the internet, Netflix, and Hulu for real in-depth news and entertainment.
I truly enjoyed the new program. It was very well done as well as timely and informative...I came away afterwards having learned something new....all of what I would expect from Brian Williams, his on-air colleagues and the staff at NBC News. For me, the program will be "must see TV." Good luck and thanks for all of your good work in reporting the news.
Interesting how we hear time and again how Americans are SO hated 'round the world, and yet look at the lengths people go to to become US citizens ... or to have their children born as US citizens. And not referencing solely the citizens of Mexico, Central, and South American, but China, Turkey, and Eastern European countries.
Also interesting is how an American woman from a "liberal think tank in Washington DC" (I think that was how she was described in this news segment) blithely reasons that, gee ... this new little citizen could one day return to the US and discover the cure for cancer.
How 'bout one of the many American babies aborted every single day in this country? Couldn't one of those 30 MILLION people (yes, that many abortions since it was legalized in 1972 as a method of birth control, for what else can you CALL it when faced with such numbers?) have been "the one" to discover the cure for cancer? ... the cure for Parkinsons? ... Muscular Dystrophy? And yet ...
From what I saw it looked informative and interesting. But it's yet another talk show almost. Looks uncomfortable sitting in those couches. But I had an idea. What about interviewing regular people? What's it like in everyday America...and not just the east coast because it's conveniently close. If you think we're uninteresting go here: It's a blog I started to vent my thoughts and frustrations and whatever else pops into my head. It's about me, us, them, just about everything. It's as open as possible while protecting the privacy of people I may know or mention. It has some strong language at times but it's what I am. Read it if you're interested.
A couple of chairs may be better suited for the set rather than couches. It just looks so uncomfortable. I watch you almost nightly when I can. Keep up the good work!
I guess you can't "go there". Links to websites get deleted. Good spam protection. The blog is called "I'm No Philosopher" on Blogger.
Keeping it simple - l loved your show!
Richard and Jon on the same show. Fantastic. Love Brian as well. I will keep watching.
Excellent show....Learned a few new things...especially about the women coming here to have babies. Nothing illegal...seems ok to me. I believe it could pay off for the U.S. eventually. Big fan of Brian Williams...This is not a talk show as someone expressed above. It's a news magazine show and one that I will certainly record every Monday night. This makes TV more worthwhile. So much junk on TV....One negative comment: The Jon Stewart bit was awkward....He's great, but that segment just didn't work. Keep it serious with some Brian Fun here & there and you'll be just fine.
Awkward. Brian needs a table to sit behind or lean on. His speaking style is too engaged to be lounging back on a couch like he's getting ready to eat a sack of potato chips. Also perhaps you should do a better job of covering his ankles on the off chance he does have vascular issues down the road!
I thought the piece that Kate Snow did on asian babies born in the U.S. was kind of boring and too long. I watch Brian Williams every night to catch up on the news but fell in love with him 'in a tv kind of way' when watching him on SNL. He was hysterically funny. I hope this show succeeds.
What is this crap?
clearly liberally motivated lies and rhetoric. Wish we could stop with this b.s. and listen to some real news.
